The holidays are almost upon us and who couldn’t use a little light and cheer after a year like 2020? While this year looks a little different, plenty of favorites have returned, like Jax Illuminations holiday light show and the Jacksonville Light Boat Parade,  plus a number of new holiday events.

There’s always something fun to do or see here in the Orange Park, FL area. If not right here in town, nearby Jacksonville always provides. This is especially true during the holidays – even in a tumultuous and uncertain year like 2020.

While certain annual events are off for this year’s calendar, others that can be safely held are still on. There’s nothing like a little difficulty to drive ingenuity, however. On that tip, this year also sees a number of new holiday events and attractions to Orange Park area. Just look:

Jax Illuminations

One of the first and most popular holiday attractions to appear each year in the Orange Park area is Jax Illuminations. Jax Illuminations is an annual, mile-long, drive-thru holiday light spectacular held in Jacksonville, FL every year. Tune your car radio to the Jax Illuminations radio station and enjoy fun, holiday music as you drive through the dancing, twinkling, extravanaganza.

Christmas in the Cathedral District: Let There Be Light

Every evening, for over one month, the Jacksonville Cathedral District will shine as part of a driving tour that includes more than 100 brightly lit trees – but not just trees! The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, First Presbyterian Church of Jacksonville, First United Methodist Church, Historic Mount Zion AME Church, and St. Johns Episcopal Cathedral, along with other significant landmark buildings, will also be decorated.

Jacksonville Light Boat Parade 2020

Don’t miss this annual,  spectacular parade of boats decorated holiday lights  and decorations on the St. Johns River. The parade starts off from the Riverfront Hyatt at 6pm, cruising along the Northbank Riverwalk to the Fuller Warren Bridge. The procession then crosses over to the south bank, following the Riverwalk to the Duval County School Board building. The parade finishes with a must-see fireworks show.

Light the Park

Come to Orange Park’s Town Hall Park and enjoy a reading of “A Visit from St. Nicholas” and the lighting of thousands of twinkling holiday lights.
